KUALA LUMPUR: The first monthly winners of the Blog for FT contest organised by the Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Ministry have been chosen.

A statement from the ministry said five winners had been selected for the public and media categories, while three winners were chosen for the junior category. The winners are for the month of October.

The winners in the public category (in no particular order) are Tan Keat Eng (Spread Your Wings — Reaching Out — KL Bird Park), Wong Ee Lynn (Froggy Encounters In Gasing Hill), Nor Emila Mohd Yusof (Illustrated Postcard VI — Putrajaya), Lim Yen Ching (Faces Of The City) and Loke Seng Hon (Putrajaya Agriculture Heritage Park: Nature’s Best).

The winners in the junior category are Yeow Minyi (Happy Peace Day! Woo!), Aisha Azmi (Going Around Putrajaya) and Izzatul Adlin Khairil Munim (Putrajaya Has It All).

The winners in the media category are Cheong Peck Beng (My Bangsar), Azizul Fahmi Ahmad Zabidi (Cer ita Kemasyhuran Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad), Mustapa Lakawa (Labuan Duniaku, Syurgaku, W i l aya h k u ), Muzaffar Mustapa (The Actors Studio At Rooftop Lot 10) and Mohd Abdul Radzi Ab Rahman (I Love You KL).

The monthly prizes for each winner in the public and media categories are a Celcom Blackberry 8250 Gemini, two Air Asia tickets to domestic destinations, vouchers worth RM150 from Borders Bookstore and a Celcom Broadband USB stick with one month free usage.

The monthly prizes for the junior category are RM250 worth of vouchers from Borders Bookstore and vouchers worth RM150 from Machines.

The winners for October have qualified for the grand final and stand to win a Peugeot 308 VTI, KIA Optima Novus, Naza Prisma motorcycles and other great prizes. The second month of the contest is from Nov 5 to Dec 5.

The final month of the contest ends on Jan 5.

To date, there have been 1,812 entries in all categories.

The competition, which is the brainchild of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, was launched on Oct 5 at Pavilion KL.

Raja Nong Chik said he got the idea to organise the competition after meeting prominent bloggers such as New Straits Times managing editor Nuraina Samad, The Malay Mail edi – tor-in-chief Ahirudin Attan and businessman Syed Akbar Ali.

He said Blog for FT was a medium for bloggers and non-bloggers to share their life experiences.

The competition is open to local and foreign bloggers, the media and those under 18. Those who do not have an account, can apply for one at wordpress.

com or blogspot.com.

Entries can be in the formof text, visual or video.

All text must either be in Bahasa Malaysia or English and in a storytelling style.

Story themes and topics can cover, for instance, lifestyle, memorable visits, events, history, tourism, music and food festivals in the Federal Territor ies.
